Cup - Yunomi - Faceted Shino - Reduction Fired - D25/22

£30.00

Handmade wheel-thrown yunomi in white stoneware shino glaze.

These are one-off pieces, thrown off the hump. The reduction atmosphere of the charcoal sagger inside the kiln creates the colour from salt and iron in the glaze.

This style of Japanese tea cup is equally great for both pour-over coffee methods and espresso with steamed milk.

Fired to cone 8 in a charcoal reduction firing saggar, then fired again to cone 6in oxidation.

My maker's mark is brushed on the base in black underglaze after the foot ring has been turned by hand.
